This artwork is dedicated to For several reasons... of which one of the most important ones is that she is a very friendly person. And that you cannot really go past her huge amount of usefull stocks.


"The Lair" is my first matte painting and I just finished it. Started work on the 11th of June and spend about 2 weeks every evening on it. The whole artwork was made up out of more then 170 layers. Another new thing was that for this artwork I had to draw and paint a lot of details myself and I think I succeeded in that. All the grass on top of the cliff was painted with brushes and the overhanging grass on the cliffs edge and the path was handpainted using a 3 px hard edge brush. A lot of the details on the bridge were hand painted and a lot of the lighting on all the cables were handpainted and it was a joy to do. Specially since the goal was to make it as realistically as possible
It is a very dark piece and it will show it's details better when there is not too much light in the room.
